THERE will be a delayed but bigger start to the Nullagine iron ore project of BC Iron and Fortescue in Western Australia's Pilbara.Nullagine will now start out as a 3-million-tonnes-a-year operation from late next year instead of 1.5 million tonnes a year from April. The changes follow Fortescue restarting its Cloudbreak-to-Christmas Creek rail spur, prompting the Nullagine joint venture to bring forward the completion of a private haul road instead of starting out by using public roads. The move to production has been confirmed after results from a test pit exceeded expectations.
